So americanninjax told me to draw “Whatever I wanted” and “seriously, anything”…So I drew Gotham Academy. I’m pumped for this series;;
Don’t worry, I’m also drawing you something you actually like;;
They wanted Nightwing harassing broody Batman so of course there’s a pun. And Mullet!Nightwing. How could I not?
Two sketch commissions for blargking!
Ventured way out of my comfort zone with the Halo Elite, but I like how they came out in the end;
Commission for moonycrossing of her OC Moony!
Reminder that I have a couple to do now, but I’m still open for sketch commissions! You can find all my info here.
So I’m designing a thing for an animation I wanna do and I’m having troubles settling on a hairstyle;;
What do you guys think?
Have any suggestions not above? Feel free to suggest them?
Thankyou! Unfortunately my step-by-steps are pretty boring/// But sure!
So I start by scribbling and browsing the internet for ref and doodling a lot of things that get erased to work out what I wanna do and how;;; I don’t have any documentation of this because it all gets deleted but yeah;;
Once I get an idea of what I wanna do I rough out the pose using quick lines and basic shapes. The idea is to keep lose and only put down what you need to understand what’s happening. I have a few go-to shapes I often rough in to help me flesh out the sketch (mostly circles on women), I put an example of what I might use in green in the corner;;
I then go in and rough out the sketch. It involves a lot of chaotic lines and shapes. Just trying to fill in details and ideas and work out what I want where. I might rough in clothing or hair positions, hands, etc;
Then I go through and mold it more solidly. I make what I call a clean rough of that. Pose is pretty set, shapes are nailed down, and I put in smaller details and stuff.
Then I start a new layer and go over all that with what would be inking had I been smart and zoomed in properly so the lines wouldn’t be jittery. If I’m looking to make a print or finished piece I usually jump over to Flash with it. I like doing lines in Flash. It makes them smooth and wonderful;; I would normally do colours in flash too, maybe export my lineart back to PS and do them there; But since I did them in photoshop and didn’t realize how jittery I was making it at that point and by the time I finished I didn’t wanna redo it and spend more time on this sketch, I left my sketch layer on underneath on a lower opacity.
Aaaaand that’s how I do most of my scribbles;; So yeah!
Sketches from tonight;;
I dunno what happened, but Star’s pretty upset;
Now back to work!
